Chair Practice Focusing on the Core - 60 minutes

Most of us have heard the cue, "Engage, activate, brace your core," but what does it actually mean? What should I really be doing? Where should I feel this? In the next 6 class series you will learn more your core/core muscles, how to effectively engage these muscles, and how to strengthen and build them. Using specific cues and techniques, we'll build more interoceptive awareness of this area for better brain/body mapping and use breathing techniques to strengthen the core and respiratory structures that stabilize these muscles. Some of the many benefits of a strong core are better balance, which leads to longevity (less falls), better gut health and management of intra-abdominal pressure, and parasympathetic homeostasis (a calmer, more balanced nervous system). For 2 classes in this series, you'll need a yoga strap or substitute and light weights. Each class unveils a different aspect of the core from the overall anatomy, specific abdominal muscles, subtle energy of this area (Manipura Chakra) along with practices to move abdominal contents to creating energy through the breath of joy.
