In this series of classes we'll be focused on "stretching the east" as the ancient yogis practiced in the morning as part of a sunrise ritual. We'll stretch and strengthen the front torso, illiopsoas muscles (under the anterior musculature of the abdomen and pelvis attaching legs to the spine), the diaphragm and intercostals (muscles of respiration) and outer leg muscles. We'll also stretch the deep back muscles that contract as we bend backward, the shoulder girdle, abdominal organs, and kidney/adrenal area in addition to the neck, throat, thyroid and thymus.
